Small Supermodel WIP update
#244303 - 01/23/11 10:08 AM

I didn't want to miss out on all the video fun I would have made them longer, but I'm using the free version of fraps, which has a 30 second limit.

Scud Race Attract Mode 1/2

Scud Race Attract Mode 2/2

Astute observers may notice something interesting in these videos. The relevant information has been passed along to Naibo.

Very nice! May ... new [Re: Bart T.]

I ask what kind of system this was running?

Is it running on one core and if yes would a dual or quad core make it faster?

Have you read my last post, what I answered to your request regarding the ui interface?

Looking amazing. Is Scud Race the only one that runs?

So far, yes. I have not yet tried to hook up any other games. I need to do that soon. I still have some work to do to make the rendering engine more stable, so Scud Race has given me plenty of things to keep me busy. Once I get other things up and running, I'll post something.

My primary machine is an 2GHz Turion64 laptop with ATI Radeon X1250 graphics. It's a piece of junk I'm getting about 20 fps on average in-game, sometimes it jumps to 30 fps for brief periods. In my office, I have a really nice 3GHz Intel rig with a pretty decent Nvidia card and I had Scud Race running at 50 FPS on 64-bit Linux last Friday.

Note that there is no dynarec and I'm just using an old C-based interpreter from the original Supermodel, so there's plenty of room for improvement, but I'm quite pleased with the results so far. It'll be at least a couple of months before I have time to even begin writing a dynarec and there's plenty to do before then. Playable Model 3 games are certainly within reach. I'll wager the Demul guys are much closer than I am; I can't wait to see what they've got in store for us.

And yes, I did see your response, thanks.

Overall Bart this is good news, take your time!

Btw, I dared to enter your website and what I found most funny, was the story about the name of the Genisis emulator Shit happens!

Best of luck and enjoy the ride.

Good to hear.

Got any rough ideas on PC power for playable speed? I assume a good grahpics card and a beefy CPU, which unless you consider a GeForce 7 to be a good card, rules my PC out
