I watched this movie knowing nothing about it other than it's possibly a remake of the John Wayne one thinking "I can't believe how fucking good this movie is". Then I saw the end credits, figures...

With that first scene I was like omg this is going to be awesome. Then it just continually let me down over and over. I like all their other movies though.

Watch the original, follow up with Rooster Cogburn, all will be healed.

A Serious Man was essentially a modern day take on the story of Job...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_Job

I enjoyed it but it was definitely one of their weirder, less mainstream films. I kind of felt the same way about The Man Who Wasn't There...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Wasn%27t_There

I think my favorites are still Raising Arizona...

...The Hudsucker Proxy...

...and Burn After Reading...

Just wasn't enjoyable, simply, and if that was their aim, then should have been slapped upside their heads when they thought of it. I don't want to watch a movie about a guy with the worst luck in the world and the Coens finding hidden ways to rub it in like anti-traditional cinema structure. It was their Jackson Pollock.
