Not much to pass on, but I can drop a few quick tidbits...
1. 2"x12"x18' lumber is piss your pants heavy.
2. LVL's of a similar size are spleen bustingly heavy.
3. When drawing up your blueprints, if you are so daring, take a practical step back with a second set of eyes. Passing on that FREE 32" door because you want a 36" inch is OK if you are concerned about getting large items into the garage. Just be sure to remember that 3 feet from that 32" door you can have a 14'x8' gaping hole in the wall at the push of a button.... (My plans have now been altered to accommodate said free door )

Lookin' good. One question: Is 14'x8' a common door size? My door is 16'x7' If it really is 8' high you may have to buy an extension kit for the door opener.

Thanks. It is actually starting to look like something...
"Common size" is a relative term it seems. 14' x 8' is a standard size, but hard as hell to find. I will need an extension, but the extra foot is worth every ounce of trouble to me. I like big trucks, and I hate it when my big trucks don't fit into anyones garage without deflating the tires.
