DU News Updates Nov. 28
#239925 - 11/29/10 12:56 AM

I got a couple of broken Cadillac Jack Funny Fruit boards. It's an old cherry master from the late 90's.

It runs partially in MAME:

I also picked up some broken Bingo board but it has a bad rom.

I found an old Megatouch board even older than the Pit Boss Megatouch II I got recently:

I had a spare Burgertime Deco Cassette dongle without a tape to go with it so I opened it up to dump the rom directly.

The dump matched the .pro read we have for it perfectly so whatever method Al K. was using to read them from the pinouts works perfectly to get unaltered rom chip reads.

I attacked the epoxy brick on the longboard version of Magical Odds to see what was inside. It looked like someone had started on it before me. Maybe Wost took a saw to it. :-)

ANY dumped Neo Print Vol.1 and he's working on dumping the BIOS for Neo Print games.

Me and Layne have been researching CPS3 discs and carts to understand the labeling and revisions better. To make a long story short, if you have any dead CPS3 carts that you will sell me for a few bucks or donate, send me a private message and we can determine if you have a needed one. There are a lot of undumped carts and each one unlocks a region. There's no point in killing a working one but if you have a dead one, there's a good chance it's needed. Here's what a cart looks like opened up:

In fact probably go ahead and contact me if you have one at all so we can document the part numbers/codes on the front and back.

Other than that... Shakka was dumped, Dirty Pigskin Football was dumped and more... There should be a truckload of new game additions in the next release, probably the most in a single release in a long time.

Dead CPS3 games can still be dumped to obtain working sets in MAME, right? I forgot if it's possible.

Yeah you get the bios from the flash chip in the cart and different region bioses combine separately with the same revision cd dump to make multiple region sets. So once you have ex. 121299 SFwhatever cd dumped, that same image will work with multiple little bios dumps to make multiple regions/sets. The flash chip shouldn't erase itself when a cart suicides.

I wonder if this is the original Megatouch Video. I believe that was a 1994 release. Does the title screen come up yet?

It comes up like the other Pit Boss Megatouch II I got, it's an earlier version of that and a general release/not region specific. So part one was first released either earlier in 94 or even 93.

I don't think so. But since we often forget our own history, this may have been a useful thing to actually do. And to be fair, the actual DECO cracking was a little before my time.
