can i hook these speakers up to 2 different receivers? let's say this speaker is hooked to receiver A. can i hook the other two terminals up to receiver B, and use it to drive the speakers if receiver A is off?
the only thing concerning me is the poles are connected with that copper plate - i seem to recall they can be hooked up twice to the same receiver. i'm also assuming i can remove these plates and it would work.

Those look like DVC (Dual Voice Coil) speakers. and, probably something like 4 ohm voice coils (so the way they are connected, you'd get an 8 ohm load). If you removed the copper jumpers then *technically* yes, you could hook them up to 2 different receivers, however, expect lots of horrid noise, and a lot of smoke occurring.

I don't think so. It looks like it is set up for bi-wiring. I would NOT hook up to two receivers unless you want to fry one.
What brand / model of speakers are they?

Yeah, you don't want to let the smoke out.

They last. Just quality stuff. And more important is the shit that is played trough it anyway Still have my audio system from 1994. Only recently upgraded to an used AV receiver, and connected the speakers from the old system. Unlike women, age does not significantly threat good equipment.

Keep an eye on the speaker surrounds...which reminds me, I have to find a place to get a couple of old Bose (out of the 70's) speakers re-coned.

I've dealt with this company a long time ago. They were actually able to save one of my car speakers that stopped the woofer stopped working on. The wire going to the voice coil was open. They repaired it by grabbing the voice coil winding and reconnecting it. IIRC, the cost wasn't bad either. Anyway, they've been doing this for many years.

Eh. I had a Hi-Fi from the last 60s that had tubes in both sections. FM stereo was like sweet butter, with depth. The thing rattled the walls with bass. I mean like death metal DAH DAH DAH DAH kick bass and rap sub boom. And it was fuckin huge. The size of a credenza. I gave it to someone who collects such things.
