I hear yah. Since we were taken over by a much larger company for 50+ billion back in 06 it hasn't been the same. I gots 20+ years left so I'm tryin' my best to stay focused. Key people are leaving on a weekly basis.

I hear you...I've never had that kind of tenure but I've got a wife and kid (with another arriving any day now) so I can't bolt either.
People always tell me that I should be "doing what I love" or finding a job that I look forward to go to everyday, but those jobs are dropping left and right and those people can't find work at all....and besides, it's nearly impossible to get into the naked skydiving instructor business anymore....it's all office politics you know.

I think the problem with "doing what you love" is that you tend to stop loving it when you have to crawl out of bed and do it every single day. Other than ridiculous jobs that no mere human can get, like Lamborghini test driver or supermodel masseuse, there really isn't a lot that most people love that much.
I actually have a job that a lot of people think is pretty cool. It was definitely cooler when I first started, but the day-to-day grind and all of the ridiculous bullshit just starts to wear you down after a while.

Same here, at least during the DOT.COM boost in the 90's. Now I'm just one step above the janitor in most people's eye.
I guess what's somewhat ironic is that I get along most with the janitor, or cleaning crew at my office simply because they don't know what I do and they respect me as a person, and in turn I respect them not only as a person but for the crappy job that they have servicing people that have less tact, patience, and manners than my 3 year old.
Amen. I'm at my current job 16 years now. It's getting to suck more and more every day. But then I look through the job sites and news papers. Also loosing that much tenure (if it even means anything today) is a bad thing too. But putting up with the bullshit is getting VERY hard to do anymore.
I just want to win the lottery, make 47 million dollars, and then work as a greeter at Wal-Mart and harass people.
