how the hell do you get video on this thing? AVI, MP4, and the like don't work. Their media converter doesn't convert squat!

I don't have an answer. But FWIW, here's some advice:

(1). Check the product's web site / forums / support for the exact format the videos need to be in.

(2). Use a program like SUPER to convert them (pretty cool program, free, and coming along nicely, but quite buggy and unstable).

Hope this helps.

Yes I do. Don't screw around with the Sansa software. It is useless. You need video4fuze. Get the portable version here.

The Sansa software SUCKS ASS! It's not worth the hard drive space.

@redk9258
You KICK ASS! That software works great!!! Thanks for pointing it out for me.

You're welcome! The Sansa software gets the audio out of sync. It gets pretty bad at the end of a movie. They also gave a 3" CD with the Fuze that has Rhapsody on it. I read that it works much better for re-encoding video files, but never could get it to install. If you have version 1 of the Fuze, you may want to put Rockbox on it. You can still boot the original firmware by holding down the left side of the wheel when you turn it on.

Ummm, I still haven't gotten around to installing that, but by any chance could you tell me if Rockbox somehow includes decoding of any other video formats? If so, that of course would save me quite a few hours of time pre-converting my existing video library...

I believe Rockbox only has MPEG-2 decoding.
