Thank you

Would it be an idea to include the system as well ? I.e. arcade, NES, etc ?

that would take too much space - many games were released for numerous systems, but some are one-system exclusives (like Parasol Stars - PC Engine, Bubble Memories - Arcade).

good source for port information is Wikipedia. it has articles on all games which are in my chart:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubble_bobble

(scroll to the end of the page and see Bubble Bobble video games table).

Parasol Stars wasn't one-system, there was an Amiga port too.

What about Chak n' Pop ? It predates the original Bubble Bobble by 3 years but is clearly a proto-Bubble Bobble featuring all the same monsters!

S'OK - what with that anyway? A secret, obscure Bubble Bobble series game from before there WAS a Bubble Bobble? Odd!

I don't hear Chack'n Pop is one of Bubble Bobble series. What source does say so?
Though I hear Bygone is by the same developer as Chack'n pop.

Taito made both Chack 'n Pop and Bubble Bobble, though Chack'n Pop is a few years older of the two. Bubble Bobble clearly reuses several enemies from Chack 'n Pop and is of the same type of game (platformer) though the gameplay is different. I wouldn't call it part of the series, but probably made by some of the same people or at least an influence of the later game.

Sounds like it is mere guess. It is fact that some enemy are reused and Chak'n Heart (Invinciblility Item) is based on it.
But no more and no less. So I doubt Chak'n Pop is one of Bubble Bobble series without any source.

About Bubble Bobble, famous story is told from mouth to mouth.
First concept of this game is by Satoshi Tajiri who is creator for Pocket Monster.
He put down some idea in his notebook.
MTJ (he was at Tatio in those days) read his notebook and flashed on basic concept of Bubble Bobble.
But MTJ unanounced to him and released Bubble Bobble. (In the end, he reported after released)

It is unanswered but some people reprove as it is plagiarism.
Also this is reported in the book (perhaps the biography of Satoshi Tajiri, though I forget this title...)

Sadly, MTJ was die in 12/11/2008 so that the truth is still in the dark.
