I think you need a program called DBX extract or something like that. You can extract the emails from the dbx file that OE uses. Then you can import them into the new install.

It's usually in the same place, unless the user has manually changed it. You must enable hidden files/folders to see it.

Here's a helpful link:

Like red says you need something that can extract the emails from the dbx archives.

No you don't.

Email DBX's on old drive by default are stored at:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\OE profile GUID\Microsoft\Outlook Express
(There may be multiple GUID's if there are multiple profiles in OE6.)

Address book on old drive by default is stored at:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

These locations are rarely changed.

Copy them out to a folder on the new system.

Go into OE6 and create the profile.
Go to Import, Import Address book. Point to backup folder.
Go to Import, Import Messages. Choose Outlook Express 6. Select "Import mail from an OE6 store directory" radio button. Click "Browse" and Point to backup folder.

I've done this hundreds of times, works fine.

Windows Live Mail is the way to go... new [Re: jopezu]

At least Windows Live Mail (OE's replacement) doesn't store email like that. It stores the emails as .eml files. The file name is a little encrypted, but you can set Windows Explorer to show the Title column, etc
