How big of a boost would I get going from a E6850 to Core i7-950 ?

This is the PC I have now
E6850 Dual core 3.0 GHz cpu 775 LGA Mobo 2 gigs of ram DDR2 800MHz Win 7 64 bit Home premium GT 240
This is the PC I want to build
Core i7-950 3.06GHz Quad-Core LGA 1366 Mobo 3X2GB of DDR3-1600 RAM GT240
Now both CPU's are clocked at the same speed. But I know theres more to it than just that. I need your opinions if for mame and other emu's out there if going from my E6850 to the Core i7 how much diff will I see and by how much diff ? Both cpu's run at 3.0GHz though so I'm not sure.
Last question with my old rig I have DDR2-800 and the new one has DDR3-1600 from what I've read before ram has very little to do with it and it's like 90% all about the cpu correct ?
thanks

I don't think we have solid MAME numbers for that difference, but on other benchmarks the difference at the same clock is under 5% for that switch. Things which aren't MAME (audio/video, Office, browsers, PC games, and compiling) will of course benefit a fair amount from the quad-core, but on a pure MAME basis it's not worth the upgrade.

i think its worth the change, the i7 has 4mb of cache more and the turbo boost technology, you can use 1 core at a higher clock, and you could get better performance overclocking it, since that cpu is perfect for that
