Misfit Ideas for 2010

Ideas for 2010: 1. Go through this list here: http://caesar.logiqx.com/php/emulators.php?id=nonmame and verify that everything listed as "Non-MAME" is in Misfit. 2. Update to MAME 0.136 core towards a possible goal that that MisfitMAME can become a DIFF or "source overlay" 3. Re-verify: what's in Misfit that is already in MAME, what's in Misfit that could be added to MAME ("official bootlegs")

Just my 2 unaffiliated cents but #2 sounds like more trouble than it's worth and re: #3, any idea why Andrew Welburn's 'real' dumps that are in misfit haven't been added to the official?

1. If you leave out the laserdisc and gambling games (none of which i really care about), most of what's left is already in misfitmame.
2. There are no benefits of "upgrading" to 0.136, it won't go faster or perform any better, probably just the opposite. Some games will not convert (pong in particular), so why should I spend hours and weeks on such a pointless task? If someone else wants to do it, that's fine, they will get full credits, but I don't have the time to spare for that.

As mentioned before, I keep pong up to date with the latest MAME builds (for whatever reason).
You update MisfitMAME to 0.136, and pong will be waiting for you.

Well, that would be very appreciated.
The timetable is to issue 0.127.H next month, and then look at upgrading, which you have made possible.
I'll contact you via PM when the time comes, if that's ok.

As far as Pong goes, at the rate Juergen is working on things, you might not need to include Pong in MisfitMAME in another few releases of MAME.
That said, while it is deemed "inaccurate", the old Pong driver will likely hit well above the 4fps or so Juergen is currently getting with his new Pong implementation.

Does that mean MAME is considering adding TTL-level emulation? :-o
I mean, it already kind of does TTL-level sound emulation, but an _entire_ game? :-O

No problem. I attached my patch for MAME 0.136.
And BTW, thanks for the CP1610 disasm patch for the MESS intv driver. I was just about to submit that patch, but am still waiting for SVN write access. Yours was better anyway
EDIT: updated patch to handle SDLMAME and Windows build differences. Thanks for your input, redk9258!

Yeah, I've been following his work, and even trying it out...
But his work, and MAME accepting it in a release are two entirely different things

Plenty of (all TTL hardware games) opportunities. Midway Wheels, Wheels II, Meadows Flim Flam, Kee Games Spike, URL Video Action II, Amutronics TV Ping Pong, PMC TV Table Tennis, Williams Pro Hockey schematics on hand just waiting to be worked with. ;-)
There's schematics for others (ie: various Ramtek games), but they use proms. Some are already dumped, but there a few not yet dumped.

Hmmmm...
I keep getting an error about not finding pong.h.
Edit: I had to change #include "pong.h" to #include "includes/pong.h" in three places to get this to compile.
Now working! Thanks!

You must be using Windows... I just compiled SDLMAME/Ubuntu with only this patch and it worked for me.
Serves me right for not compiling under Windows.
EDIT: yup... in the diff of SDL and Windows makefile:
#------------------------------------------------- # include paths #-------------------------------------------------
# add core include paths CCOMFLAGS += \ -I$(SRC)/$(TARGET) \ -I$(SRC)/$(TARGET)/includes \ -I$(OBJ)/$(TARGET)/layout \ -I$(SRC)/emu \ -I$(OBJ)/emu \ -I$(OBJ)/emu/layout \ -I$(SRC)/lib/util \ -I$(SRC)/osd \ -I$(SRC)/osd/$(OSD) \
The bold line is in SDL but not in Windows... good thing these builds are merging soon
Updated the patch in the original post. Thanks!

Surprised you didn't mention PSE Desert Patrol. Haven't seen that one in forever

I'd like to see that too. Great game and why still using same avatar that I refuse to change :-) But it's a 3 board system (cage rack).
Gotta start smaller with say any single board system game (proms or no proms) and have logic schematics of. URL Video Action (have logic schematics of) doesn't count because it makes use of a function board that sends info to main logic board of what game settings the player has selected before gameplay begins.
Clean Sweep could be ideal target imo, and some of the Atari games.

I’m convinced Mario is a hobo.
He wakes up everyday in the same clothes, runs around in sewers, and collects coins for a living.
At the end of the day, he uses the coins to buy mushrooms
