I apparently missed the acquisition of Determina (http://www.determina.com) and DynamoRIO by VMWare in 2007, apparently. I'd been wracking my brains trying to remember the name of this company and their "binary translation"-based server-side host intrusion prevention system (HIPS) which was originally based on HP's Dynamo and MIT's RIO.

And the guy works for VMWare. Damn, they're making some good acquisitions lately.

They have to. MS, Red Hat, and Sun all have very good desktop virtualization solutions with varying degrees of server features and 2 of those 3 are both free and open source, so it's a tough space.
