Thanks. Some of the Japanese flyers, still on wanted list at some flyer web sites, are interesting compared to the world region flyers such the Japan version of Gremlin / Sega Frogs flyer.

Kinda interesting that they have Albegas on there, if it was never released you would think they would have left it off.
Then again maybe the folks that put the list together don't really know one way or the other.

Looks like it was released, just in Japan, and just very limited?

Dang... would have loved to play a Voltron-like laserdisc game back then.

Still would now.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

No, as is mentioned on that D-L-P page, it was most likely intended to be a simple ROM swap for the existing boards.
All the Sega LD games are that way, same board just a ROM and disc change.
I think it was only just field tested and then for whatever reason canceled.
Maybe because of the low interest of their other LD games or maybe because of the loss of interest in LD games in general and their cost of maintenance?
What makes Albegas odd as opposed to the Star Trek game is they had the discs pressed for Albegas! (Many of them, you can still get them on ebay for cheap!)
Why they didn't put out at least a conversion kit with the ROMS, disc and a Marquee to try and get something from it is just mind boggling.

Actually, I take that all back! new [Re: *=/STARRIDER\=*]

Just happened to look at the Albegas flyer again and noticed on the back that it implies that you can actually pan the screen left and right ŕ la Star Rider.
For the game to be able to do that it would require different hardware!
So I guess that's that, they saw the declining LD game interest and hardware reliability and pulled the plug. :/

So why is it on their list?
Because there were a couple test cabs? :/

Here is a translated version on the flyer:
Seems Albegas was actually intended to be the name of the system not just the first game on it???
Probably not but that's how the translated flyer sounds. LOL

What's interesting is that the disc has both Sega and Bally / Midway copyrights in the video, so presumably it was intended for release outside of Japan.

Also interesting is that at the end of the disc, the final piece of video is used for the 'Vibraseat Check'. I don't recall Astron Belt having a vibrating seat in the cockpit version, so this may be another point in favour of it using its own hardware - or at least a derivative of the Astron Belt / Galaxy Ranger hardware.

IIRC, Albegas was supposed to have been 'Voltron II' in the US series - Dairugger XV (giant robot made from cars, tanks, helicopters, etc.) was 'Voltron I', Golion (uh, lions) was Voltron III, and Albegas was intended to slot in-between them.

Never really had a clear answer as to why that never happened, but if Sega and/or Bally / Midway had the rights to the original show for the game, it may explain a few things.

Guessing this is because the name & logo for "Cybernaut" was used in the video. Cybernaut was a pinball machine made by Bally/Midway in 1985, and the name/logo was trademarked.

The name was probably just reused for the pinball machine after the laserdisc market imploded and it was clear that the video game wasn't going to see release.

what is the full translation of this game please ?
Calorie-Kun Vs Moguranian

I know Ninja-Kid II it lists this

It was ported on consoles in Japan as 'Ninja-kun - Ashura no Shou' (translates from Japanese as 'Ninja Kid - Chronicle of Ashura').

So would it be right to assume Calorie-kun to be

Calorie Kid ?

then what is Moguranian ?

I know it says mole type creature but what is an english translation ?

Calorie Kid Vs ?

any help or translation ideas
