T'was the noight befoe crimiss and all fru teh forum not a user was post'n not even a gregf.
The crusty socks littered the floor along with fast food wrappers and supersized drink cups I was using to piss in... eh, in hopes that St. Andrew would post another one of his scantily clad lasses... with NOICE asses... 'kin hell, I forget me glasses!
Eh... fuck it. Cheetos dust in a scraggly zit festering beard and a stogie that smells like a burning tire or whatevah the hell else there was. G'Night ya dumb yanks!
Edit: Yeah, I don't care to put that much effort into it.

I miss Smit’s DU announcement posts since a few were amusing with how he themed some of the DU announcement posts with a descriptive theme.Glad that he got his Atari MM2 wish and was around to see that and give his opinion before heading elsewhere.
At least maybe a 2024 predictions thread will be cranked out just like 2023 since it is always interesting to see how some of the posts from same folks change over time which means the action is always there like it has been since beginning, but evolving and branching out in directions most wouldn’t have guessed way back during 1990s era. I would not have believed Mattel Electronics led games being supported back in 2000 or Casio Rz-1 as well, but here we are.

Hey Renegade and gregf,
My email archives imply that I first wrote this up and posted it to the MAMEDev private email mailing list on January 14, 2002, a little after Christmas 2001. So about sixteen years.
I think I posted it to mame.net messageboard that same day, but I could be wrong. Hard to tell now, since there's very little archives, plus both mame.net (while it was active) and MAMEWorld have purged archives as well. I've usually posted it to mame.net (while it was active) or MAMEWorld, and every few years I send it by email. This year I posted it at bannister.org forums too.

To me, it was more of a tribute with a smidge of some old fashion stereotype if including the Cheetos part from the earlier versions, but still with a Charles Schultz “Peanuts” style light hearted humor.

I give Stiletto credit for having to find ways to update in keeping up with changes and progress over the years. I can see why Stiletto wrote that since it was in the development era in which users weren’t sure what would be supported in a release. Each release at the time was like a present not knowing what would be supported.
For smack down humor the YouTube comments section might have some material such as the gem with one reply to the UK resident. It requires one having to watch a few of the “left for America” tv commercials to see why the reply is damn entertaining. I laughed for several minutes after reading that exchange.
