What's new in HBMAME ====================
2023-04-07 0.245.11
- Fixed bad graphics in Rally Chase (trallycd) - Added preliminary support for .neo files used in NeoSD and Mister. - Added preliminary support for .7z files used in Darksoft's MultiMVS.
New Games --------------------------------- - [chuckie] Chuckie Egg - [dktrain2] Donkey Kong Trainer 1.01 (bugfix) - [neo2048] Neo 2048 - [ngmvs] Neo-Geo MultiMVS support - [ngneo] Neo Geo support of .neo files - [pacjrz80] Pac-Jr on Pacman Hardware - [sbpf] Super Bubble Pop (fixed)
Notes for ngmvs and ngneo: - Very preliminary. Cheats, save-states, memcards etc have not been tested. - If loading fails you'll get a black screen. - Intended for testing of homebrew. Protected sets are not supported. However, most standard games happen to work. - Files are meant to be loaded as loose software. Use the inbuilt File Manager, or the command-line (-quik {full path to file}).
ngneo: - Can use a Software List. An example xml has been included which you can expand upon.
ngmvs: - The file extension is 7z, which works fine from command-line but is treated as a directory by the File Manager. You'll have to enter it and choose any file within. - The files within must be at the root of the 7z, or loading will fail.

I've been enjoying playing through all the Donkey Kong hacks, but the only one of them that doesn't really work or at least doesn't work as intended is DK Lava Panic. Other than having the words above the screen LAVA PANIC it is no different than any other regular DK game. I looked up a YouTube of how it should play and on my version in HBMAME there is no lava present, nor any panic at all.
What do I have to do to get this playable as intended with the lava? Thanks. Keep up the good work.

Tried it on my end... I get the same result...
There is a plugin you can use to play it on normal MAME here:

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info. I tried it and was able to get it to work on regular MAME with that plugin. Interesting.

Thanks for the report. I'll see if it's fixable for the next version. Otherwise, just stay with the plugin.
EDIT: the patches appear to be done with 'floating' IPS patcher, but it produces corrupted zip files, so I can't see what's been changed. When I did it myself, it only changed the one file that's in the game. So, idk. Anyway, since the game isn't running as advertised, it's been removed.
