Question on compiling clean vs -regenie
#394787 - 09/17/22 07:34 PM

Note: Not a DEV

So normally I do a clean build of MAME from scratch every morning from the master branch on GITHUB. This takes about 17 mins.

Recently I learned about the regenie=1 option which I had previously not used.

Using regenie I am able to build a functional .exe off the prior build and a diff pull in much less time.

Question: Are there gotchas to not doing a clean vs continual regenie build? I haven't hit a failure to build via regenie that required a clean build yet. How often would a clean build be recommended if compiling daily or more frequently?

I haven't ran into fail so far. Windows 11 and Ubuntu.
