[Annc] i7-12700K Benchmarks released.
#393190 - 01/30/22 09:59 PM Attachment: 2022.png 134 KB (0 downloads)

Finally got some DDR5 (5600MHz C36) and finished my new system, a 12700K (had the CPU and Mobo since November). As seen on the bench page we've got an 80% increase from my 4.5Ghz i7-6700K which is a nice 6 generational bump. Also included is my new Surface 4 Laptop (gen 11 i5) which interestingly is a bit faster than the i7-6700K.

I'm letting the Asus Rog Strix z690-F do its AI Overclocking so three of the cores appear to hit 5.3GHz w/ my cooling (Corsair AIO H115i RGP Pro XT 280mm).

Is scudrace playable on that beast?

If you have time would you mind testing thrill drive. I get around 60% on a 6700k.

Thanks for posting these.

SCUD Race doesn't maintain a 100% unfortunately if you let the demo roll and hit F10 to unthrottle (this is beyond the bench runs 90 emulated seconds). There are parts of the demo w/ different camera views where it dips to 60-70%. The worst is when the demo drives the car by the airport and you see all the planes. It goes down to 30%.

Manually, Thrill Drive was playable, its lowest in the demo was 130%.

mame -bench 90 thrilld
Average speed: 316.45% (89 seconds)

Why is the nightly build consistently faster than the .240 release from the same date?

I'm not sure what switches are used by whoever compiles the official mamedev.org binaries.
I use the official dev package and just 'make -j21' and strip the symbols, so whatever the package defaults are.

Legitimate performance gain? Device timers—used all over the place—were made slightly lighter by AJR by avoiding passing around an unused pointer. Maybe it's that? That was less than a week ago.

Gee, what a mystery that is, if only it was in a public repo…

I'm building a 12700K beast of my own (No DDR5 tho, sticking to DDR4 for now), but it's great to see these numbers.

It would be cool to compare these with a 5900X...

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!
