We had a very deranged user who vandalized the forums pretty badly. Forums they were posting crap in will now show no subject for the last post. Subsequent posts should correct this situation for everyone.

The person has more or less been using VPNs and Tor nodes to constantly re-register accounts on Github in order to spam the issue tracker with invalid issues for years at this point.
They started out posting here on MAMEWorld, constantly harassing AntoPISA for some reason as well.
It always starts out with innocuous levels of "just asking questions", then devolves into absolutely batshit insanity, all-caps, and all sorts of other things, e.g. https://github.com/mamedev/mame/issues/9087
I ended up more or less urging the person to get some level of help, e.g.:

This person desperately needs to be involuntarily institutionalized. Not just for their own sake, but for everyone else's. Unfortunately, as best I can figure, they seem to be from some third-world country where that's never going to happen.

Yeah I'd be afraid to reply to their messages! If they are for real they sound like the perfect stalker,and a dangerous one at that.
I can hear the the neighbors now, " yeah she was a quiet girl, stayed to herself, never caused a problem here. We are totally shocked when the police announced they found a programmer cut up in her freezer!"
Ted bundys daughter maybe...

We don’t really know. It appears he was pronounced dead on 7 December and his ashes were interred in the Cemitério Vertical de Curitiba at 17:00 on 8 December.
Given his ashes were interred the day after he was pronounced dead, we can infer that it was probably a case where life support was turned off with the agreement of next of kin. (There’s usually more time between death and burial for other kinds of deaths.) We have no details beyond that.

Thank you for the information, Vas. Very, very sad news.
Ciro was really a good guy and did a lot for us end-user types via EL and his other various software projects. He was always super helpful and went way above and beyond to support user requests, fixes, etc. I have a lot of appreciation for what he did, just as I do for you and all the rest of the past and present MAME dev community.
Hats off.

Agreed. RIP Ciro. That's much too young of an age to go at.
He was a great contributor to the community and really went out of his way to try to accommodate folks' feature requests. He definitely was in it to try to go above and beyond the expectations of users. And he was a really nice guy interacting on the forum to boot
