History.xml 2.34
#391446 - 07/28/21 08:25 PM

History.xml 2.34 available at the usual place

https://www.arcade-history.com/index.php?page=download

Guaranteed without old, now unused, ROM names. Everything has been renamed to match MAME 0.234.

As you can see, History.xml 2.34 serves info for 37108 roms from the mainlist and 118541 roms from the softlists. Only 1258 roms (mainlist) and 10926 roms (softlists) are missing.

I find the use of the word "ROMs" referring to machines emulated by MAME a bit misleading; can't you find the case to change it?

Greetings.

Hello AntoPisa,

I'm sorry but I don't understand what do you mean ? If you are speaking about machine's bios, then it's a ROM (Read Only Memory).

Perhaps I have not explained myself well: in all your references (on the site, on the pdf attached and here in your first post) you always mention, both in the case of MAME machines and software lists, the word "ROMs".
Roms are contained within rom-sets, as we all know.
By always writing this term (everywhere) you can confuse the user, who can assume that the missing roms are not systems that you have not yet registered.
Written like this it looks like the final report of a ClrMAME scan rather than a summary of the systems missing from your 'history' file.

I would change that term to use "system" or "machine" and "software". It's just my opinion.

Yes, generally I make this distinction: "mainlist roms" and "softlist roms".

Mainlist contains everything that is not under a softlist.

I'll take in consideration your suggestion Next time, I'll precise what mainlist is exactly.

Also, a new feature is available on the website (database page); the MAME filter. Now you can filter entries in MAME and entries not in MAME. Included my default under the results, you can now choose "Exclude" to see only what is not in MAME. (it's better to couple this filter with a type, for example: arcade video games, or any consoles/computers).

Here is for example, the direct link to the Unmamed arcade video games:
