The Mandela Effect has struck again!
#390569 - 04/05/21 02:22 AM

Ok, now I'm sure you are all going to think "he just didn't notice", or "clearly the guy's just out of his mind"...but I SWEAR that isn't the case!

So, EVERY time there is a new release of MAME, I glimpse through the whatsnew.txt to look for any changes I will find interesting. Granted, i just glance through it, but I get the gist of what the changes are. Also, I will launch a few games and go to the slider controls to see if anything in there was changed or new features added. I especially look at the vector settings. This last release of MAME, I noticed a new vector setting. Popped out at me right when I brought up the slider options. It said "Beam Dot Size". I adjusted it and was THRILLED how it made the Asteroids laser blasts bigger, making them look more arcade accurate. I was very excited about this NEW addition!!!

So, I've been using MAME version 0.227 mostly, since all updates after that didn't really effect me one way or the other. I went back to this version of MAME to notice that this setting was in there also! I honestly swear on a stack of bibles, it was never there before and I just saw it added as of version 0.230!!! I didn't just overlook it all this time! I had the vector setting memorized and I'd constantly mess with the settings to see which ones I liked better. I would have noticed that setting a long time ago! So, I am VERY happy that this has been added to MAME, but I know it wasn't there all this time!!! Out of curiosity, when did this feature get introduced?

Thank you for your attention in this matter

July 24, 2020: https://github.com/mamedev/mame/commit/64fdf1306e5f330c1b102c6702deb5b5cf09d980

So it would have been introduced with MAME 0.223.

And that was added in during the time that analog audio emulation was being supported
for Sega and Cinematronics vector games work thanks to Aaron once again.
