Thanks to the great and precise work done by Mentat the whole collection of Artwork for MAME in WideScreen 16:9 format (unofficial) has been revised, corrected (and new packages will be added soon). All .lay files updated with the new format.
I only made a repack, which you can find here and here as usual (individual files).
Here is the summary of the magnificent work done by Mentat:
1945kiii: 2 same bezel, keep the bigger (2560x1440)
aliensyn: no widescreen (REMOVED)
arknoid2: no widescreen (REMOVED)
btime: no widescreen (REMOVED)
cfboy0a1: no widescreen (REMOVED)
cobram3: no widescreen (REMOVED)
geebee: no widescreen (REMOVED)
nemesis: fix AlexDC22 8:7 (filename error)
paperboy: no widescreen (REMOVED)
rastan: fix Cab Artwork+no reflection+no shading (filename error)
rbibb: fix duplicate element bezelg
renegade: fix Cab Artwork+no reflection+no shading (filename error)
roadrunn: Background - Vaughn Hzt (3) == robocop !!
robotron: fix Cab Artwork+no reflection+no shading (filename error)
rthunder: no widescreen (REMOVED)
salamand: fix AlexDC22 8:7 (filename error)
shangon: the first view is now the 16/9 (the 2 others are not widescreen)
shdancer: fix Cab Artwork+no reflection+no shading (filename error)
shinobi: fix Cab Artwork+no reflection+no shading (filename error)
slither: the first view is now the 16/9 (the other is not widescreen)

Great update, thanks!
In the Unoffical Alternate Artworks .datfile, you have an entry "default" that is the .7z zip file of all of the artwork. I believe this should be removed from the datfile.

Thanks a lot for this great update!
One question: I've testet most of the new widescreen artworks and they work fine except these:
1942
1943
Airwolf
Those don't display the game for me, screen stays black.
Maybe I have to adjust anything?

I checked and you are right: the 3 packages have the .lay file in the old format.
I'm fixing them and they will be available with other new packages in the update that I will release on Sunday 18th April.
