But maybe much of this is already known.

If only Seibu could market their own console technology hardware loaded with Raiden II-like hardware protection technology in the system. A nightmare scenario that only Gary Larson (Far Side) comic creator could draft up in some amusing cartoon strip.

The thing going for companies now these days is console technology so advanced that if the hardware is ever simulated or even fully emulated years from now, it would run so extremely slow and never be fully playable for another 50 years or so since desktop CPU speed (Intel or AMD) will be a long ways from ever catching up.

That would mean shipping a CPU in every cartridge. That was rather expensive at the time (now you have cpus everywhere :-)

OG.

Only if there's a DS5002 in there to complete it. Seibu encryption with a Gaelco touch, what's not to love?

Add a FD1094 or better yet MC8123 to the pcb hardware component while game itself also requires being run from a floppy drive with an 8" floppy diskette for the hell of it. It'll be a winner of ready to become immediately extinct as soon as it ships out the factory door.

If the cpu was of a MC8123 variety on each cartridge, that would give it the 'finishing' touch.

You joke but...

(and there's not even anybody left to dump these things even if the battery hasn't already expired)

note, there's a Dallas DS5003FP and battery on there too, which I can only assume is somehow related to the DS5002FP suicide chip you find on Gaelco boards etc. I can also only assume the code is/was in the SRAM, and is probably long dead. If the battery voltage is >2.8 (and at no time has anybody removed the battery or accidentally triggered the suicide mechanism, which can happen if you so much as look at it funny) then the sram might in theory still contain the code, and the dallas might in theory still contain the key for it, but if it's been sat disused for so long, in unknown conditions, that's kinda unlikely.

Morten personally outside of contact on IRC and emails, he was a key part of the team of two man Danish team featuring Peter Wilhelmsen who together overcame some of the toughest challenges emulation faced in the time they worked together....The DS5002FP protected Gaelco games for example could only be dumped thanks to the work he put in, a path full of setbacks, boards suiciding and even once a working setup was found there was still a high risk each time. To put things into perspective, prior to Morten and Peter taking on the challenge it was one that most people had already written off as simply impossible.

I thought Peter was also able to do this type of work, but if not without Morten's involvement, that blows. Gaelco game fans lucked out and then some.
