MAMEUI Keys problems
#386979 - 07/05/20 09:57 AM

Hi there, thanks for reading me, I need your help please:

I'm using the latest MAMEUI64 v.222, I have been using this for years, but now I setup this emulator on a pc in a laptop.

The issue it's that i have to use always the physical keyboard in order to get function on the hotkeys, i cannot bring up the TAB menu via Teamviewer or InputDirector, nor Remote Desktop, just via physical keyboard or wireless keyboard attached to a usb port, can someone help me if there is an alternative or solution to use kind of remote keyboards to use the hotkeys in MAMEUI?

I tried to be the most clearly to explain as possible.

Thanks in advance to everyone.

Don't know if it's changed in the past year or so, but it used to be possible to change the default keyboard input method to something else which is more compatible. In regular old command line MAME you could change it to something like -keyboardprovider dinput for example to use DirectInput rather than the default RawInput. Doing this also means you can use a gamepad masquerading as a keyboard inside MAME e.g. via joy2key (useful if you want rapid fire in a game without using cheats). There should be a similar option in mame.ini or (hopefully) in MAMEUI itself.
