I was just about to post this.

I can't help but wonder if this is happening because of all the recently dumped game and graphic data from these handhelds suddenly being available.

Won't be selling very well.

1. Kids into Minecraft, Fortnite and many others games.

2. Will pile up on the shelves.

3. Nobody gonna pay $15 for one.

I agree since it depends what specific titles are marketed. More likely I see this as a limited edition marketing run to see if it sells once again. The better move is have it on mobile phone devices even though the handheld recreation is a novelty nostalgic marketing item for older generations and for younger generation of kids, but it probably won't have the sales numbers compared to decades earlier which is why I am guessing it will be a trial run limited edition to the more well known titles.

With many of the retail store outlets no longer in business within the US markets, the potential pileup will be only visible in warehouse shelves such as Amazon or Walmart or Target via online order only sales system. The 'Toys R Us' or Kaybee Toys era for kids to be able to try the game out or see what it looks like in person before buying is gone unless maybe vendors have some units for sale at swap meets.

It depends what title the game is. It has to be a post 2010AD kid's entertainment show character that kids are fans of.

This will be the main reason if sales do not work out. Kids want their own generation of titles of tv show cartoon characters instead of what their parents were fans of in 1980s or 1990s or better yet their own style of games which are unlike what their parents played which means handheld but via iphone or whatever phone mobile device uses instead of a dedicated handheld unit.


One different example using 'nostalgic comparison': iirc when going to Camelot miniature golf course back in 2011, I didn't see any more titles of Konami DDR dancing games at the arcade area. One guess is why play game at arcade when the kids already have a home plug and play version, but the other factor is maybe the dancing novelty finally wore itself out with younger generation of kids preferring some other coinop arcade game....especially if it involves ticket redemption gaming.
