What the heck kind of chip is this? "MC98AP8"
#385022 - 01/16/20 02:17 AM

I have never heard of this type of chip. Is this some sort of custom MCU with a lot of encryption? There is extremely little info on this chip.

The only pcb I know of that uses this chip is a Rockin Bowl O Rama I/O board (not JVS based). I heard this pcb was very difficult to maintain as well as expensive.

NXP MC98AP8 new [Re: MooglyGuy]

I failed to recognize the logo in time (first saw this on a Raw Thrills RIO board which uses an HCS08 family MCU, MC9S08). It's possible this MC98AP8 could be HCS08 based but this is to be determined.

I'm not expecting HCS08 emulation any time soon (for reasons that are difficult to explain). Move along now.
