Load Sega CD ROMs from drive

I have disc images I made myself from a few Sega CD games I own. If I mount the images to a virtual drive, is there a way to tell MAME to load the ROM from the virtual drive? I tried this a few years go but it was always wanting a file and wouldn't just let me choose the drive where the data is mounted. Thanks!

That would of been cool to play from the original disc/image.

You can play from the original image, though. MAME can mount the image directly, you don't need to trampoline through a virtual CD drive.
