Pac-Man Pixel Bash? iCade Galaga?
#384728 - 12/21/19 02:03 AM

I just saw a 'Pac-Man's Pixel Bash' at a new local arcade in the mall. Looks like a vertical oriented X in 1 but licensed from Bandai/Namco. Has it been looked at / dumped for emulation?

They also had something called an iCade Galaga.

Both set up to take coins.

Isn't the iCade a controller? Anyway I read that the iCade Galaga is a Chinese bootleg. Also found this link. https://bootleggames.fandom.com/wiki/ICade_60-in-1

Found this link to the board and info. https://www.aceamusements.us/games-list.html Dip switches and other things. Grab those dip switches info for MAME.

Pixel Bash came out last year... it is basically all the different Namco Museums rolled into one cabinet... 31 games total. You can even get one with a built-in fridge:

The killer is there are even horizontal games on that cab; equivalent of rotating your PC monitor to portrait mode, then playing a 4:3 game in MAME.

The one that's fun to play is "World's Largest Pac-Man." It has a 2-player co-op element to it.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

Yeah there are a lot of these licensed products these days, the non-emulation ones are interesting.

Carmen Sandiego released this year has been found to be SunPlus hardware, likewise the Oregon Trail thing released late 2017 is meant to be too (but I have no dump) The PCB on that is the same as a Centipede Mini-cab (the video version, not the LCD version - apparently there are 2 different ones). Basic Fun did also do a Pong thing, but that seems to have no external ROM, just an ELAN type CPU with internal ROM, which can't be dumped.

Those Pacman 'Micro Arcade' (credit card sized things) are interesting too, again those are quite recent, last few years, but IMHO it would be worth getting them shipped to Sean for later analysis as they're clearly unique programs, and if they use any kind of ROM rather than being baked into the CPU they're potential emulation targets for one day. There are Tetris ones of those too.

A lot are going to simply be emulation based units tho, and from the less reputable manufacturers such as DreamGear and ATGames, probably bootlegging older versions of MAME.

Obviously this is a huge field, and one I'm doing my best to start documenting (I have so much crap here it's unreal) but extra contributions are always welcome if they're not duplicating things I've already picked up.

MAME is probably the most important emulator at the moment when it comes to these obscure platforms.

Yep, thanks. Noticed in the list some horizontal games.
I was disappointed to rush over to see an LCD in there, was hoping to lean in for close ups of a CRT for HLSL/BGFX comparisons.

They also had four pinball games:
Guardians of the Galaxy
Metallica
Monster Bash
Medieval Madness

I've gotten back into virtual pinball after 5 years so it was fun to play those for the first time.

Man I'd love it if The World's Largest Pac-Man was emulated. I LOVE that game. It's difficult, but addicting to play
