Gonna be honest here, I really cannot stand the modern HD shooters, everything looks too 'cartoonish', if that makes sense.
Traditional 2D Pixel's and sprites just look so much better in this genre.

If you want shmups with fish in them, play anything with "Darius" in its name, especially Darius 2 and Darius Gaiden.
Mame certainly emulates them...
