What the hell

Mameworld looks like this here, for weeks now. Is this your idea of a White Christmas? None of the themes work, everything gets me the same white nothing.

Someone's trying to do something naughty on your device!

It's from an update in Chrome. The other browsers are still OK. You can turn it off...supposedly...mine won't let me do it no matter how many times I turn it off.

Or, if you trust MameWorld, just click on the button to allow it to load the naughty bits (& bytes)...

Yeah, it really is annoying as hell...

Thanks for the report.

I'm pretty sure you're talking about the half-assed conversion to HTTPS.

No one really knows which web admin was responsible - or what to do about it now.

But it needed to be done, Google algorithms penalize non-HTTPS websites these days.

Check your URL for loading MAMEWorld, are you coming in via HTTP or HTTPS?

If you come in via HTTP, all will appear as normal.

The HTTPS conversion is broken, Chrome and Firefox want to enforce all website elements loading via HTTPS if HTTPS is being used.

The website needs to be modified to allow loading web page elements via HTTPS if on HTTPS or with HTTP if on HTTP, or something.

Funny, Opera used to do the same thing back in the '90s, which broke display of some images on the login page for the Opera-sponsored operamail.com web mail service. Browsers got a lot more relaxed about loading HTTP resources for HTTPS pages at some point after that, and now they've swung back around to being stricter again.

Yes, it works until I click on something, then it snaps back to https and all images are gone again, it doesn't stay on http. It seems like there should be a way to bypass this in Firefox but I can't find anything.

It looks like all images are on http, even the favicon.

I can't get it to stay on http.

I'll take a look later, it may need something similar to Mr. Do's website. No promises though, it's a bit outside my skillset.

This is somewhat fixed now. There's still some minor issues in the message database but the forum should appear properly now (I think, I've only done limited testing!)

I actually even went in and fixed most of the message database issues I'd spotted. It should be pretty rock solid these days.
