All 10 slots in Playchoice 10?
#382990 - 07/05/19 06:11 AM

Any chance we will ever see all 10 slots active in the PlayChoice 10 driver? We finally have 4 and 6 slots in the NeoGeo MVS (THANK YOU!) but I would love to see it in the PC10. Reason being, I had to sell my real PC10 to pay some bills, and would love to have the same 'feel' back without having to load each game and play it like a standard cartridge system.

The driver badly needs a rewrite. I don't know when that will happen, or who will step up to do it.

Be careful. If you ask Mamedev about things like that, they get hyper-sensitive and call you a rom kiddie.

If it works then don't break it. People will flip out once it get rewritten to where those no longer works.

Kidding. lol

To add to this, I looked at PC10 when I added a new BIOS set a few years back and it was.. quite honestly a disaster with structure that made little sense.

There are things you can fix, and there are things you rip out and start completely over with. PC10 is the latter. I'd love to see 10 slot support, but it's not going to happen unless someone gets a lot of time and interest in doing the driver over correctly first.

Sadly unless it's emulating a door bell or garage door opener it probably won't see any attention for some time.

With that kind of winning attitude I can't imagine why people aren't falling over themselves to work more on arcade games.

Actually, if MAME emulated doorbells, sound emulation in Pleiades would be probably correct by now.

Mamedev should removed all the arcade drivers from mame, because they have dropped out the arcade emulation...

After reading the whatsnew.txt each month, I wholeheartedly disagree.

Just because "that one guy" keeps spouting off about how he's not going to work on arcade games anymore, doesn't mean that other people aren't. And "that one guy" technically isn't MAMEDev anymore, in the first place.

"Sit back and wait for cool things to happen" is still relevant today, people.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

You're wasting your time replying to jasd. He's clearly borderline illiterate, so I wouldn't expect him to be able to read the whatsnew.txt files and comprehend that there's still quite a lot of development going on on the arcade side.

Anyone who can miss the fact that over the past two versions, one of the holy grails of arcade emulation - System 573 Digital games, including all of the Dance Dance Revolution games up through Extreme, and most of the Guitar Freaks and Drummania titles, being emulated - has been achieved must be so far up his own ass that he more resembles a flesh ouroboros than an actual person.

Outrageous! Arcade is part or MAME and is what made MAME so famous.

I was going to post that very same thing myself.

Apparently some of the bootlegs of both this and Phoenix used different doorbell chips too?

There is a Atari Tetris bootleg that uses an additional Z80 and a UM3482 for sound (a doorbell chip).

Sean decapped my UM3482 and the bits are clearly visible, but we cannot make sense of them (we cannot find the logical order). There is no CPU core on it, and there are four ROM regions, one for notes, other for the offset of each doorbell melody and the other two are for unknown purpose.

Sean even captured the output of the chip with a logic analyzer while it played all 12 songs, then wrote a program to measure the period of each note and count the number of cycles it was played... But still we're missing something.
