New lightgun- no sensor bar needed
#381977 - 04/15/19 06:46 PM

Looks like the prototype works great in the video. Kickstarter in video description- £80 (~$105) minimum to receive product. According to the creator the kickstarter is only to get numbers so he can place required orders for parts. He's already just about at the goal too after only a day.

One drawback is that it requires a white border around the screen so it can see the borders. This border is drawn by the included software (Windows/Linux/R-Pi).

He does say two guns can be used at once. From the Kickstarter:

Quote:

The prototype shown is a high quality SLS 3D printed custom design. It features a high speed camera, a CPU, USB interface, a trigger, 4 assignable action buttons and a pump action reload feature. So far it has driver software for Windows and Linux (including Raspberry Pi), it is mapped to behave like a physical mouse for easy software compatability. Providing the software is compatible (such as Mame) you can even use 2 Sinden Lightguns at the same time. The final production version includes an additional 4 assignable buttons (therefore 8 in total) that you can use for navigating menus or assigning additional actions.

Is this the same one that was being spammed on reddit about a year back? where people actually concluded it still wasn't really that good once they unwound all the marketing speak and got down to details?

There are recent Plug and Play TV games that do similar with a border btw (since again the old method doesn't work with new TVs) They're using a border with patterns that a camera in the gun can recognize in order to work out where you're pointing the thing. People have said the additional processing time causes lag closer to what you get with something like a Kinect or PS Move tho and makes most of the games not much fun.

No idea. Neil did try it in his video and it seemed to work great.

EDIT: Just did a search- it looks like it, and that he has had a prior kickstarter for it. Looking into it more, but unfortunately he removed the original listing. He has been posting semi-regularly to r/emulation (/u/MrLightgun) so I expect he will post again now that the new Kickstarter is up.

Well, the product may not be news at this point, but the RetroManCave video demonstrating it is at least.

No sensor bar, so this is supposed to move faster than ultimarc's aimtrak, no lag at all.

I heavily agree with Haze as well as the fact poor emulation standards for some Sega IR games (pointing the gun outside the screen for an instant reload may not work with a Sinden even with proper emulation). I don't think Sinden is designed for arcade hardware.
