Is there a current history.dat without the line "This Arcade Video Game was published XX years ago:" ? Older history.dat files didn't have this.

So you're wishing to remove history from a history.dat?

I don't get it.

It's not really GOOD history tho.

Anything that mentions something with a date relative to the current date, in a dat that people might download and use for several years, isn't really well written.

It seems to be a rather pointless automatically generated string, that is only going to go out of date. The year of release, as an actual year, is a much more valid thing to

When the game's release date is already in history.dat:

Pac-Man (c) 1980 Midway Mfg. Co.

You just don't need this. It's redundant:

This Arcade Video Game was published 39 years ago:

It looks like laziness to me. People don't want to think these days. Just get the Release year and do the math. It's not rocket science.

Yep. Extraneous work having to be updated (either manual or automated) on a yearly basis when really not needed other than the year it was first released or copyrighted. Adding to that issue are re-releases as well that adds more work.

To paraphrase Peter Sellers' line with Haze's quote: "...rather pointless automatically generated string, that is only going to go out of date is like train without wheels very soon you get nowhere."

btw: Peter Sellers dialogue line from his character Inspector Sydney Wang (Murder by Death movie) : "....Man who argue with cow on wall is like train without wheels very soon you get nowhere."
