Is there any way to get Mame cheats to work with Street Fighter with a 3rd party physical controller ?
The DPad of the 3rd party physical controller works but the on screen dpad - that big red circle does not register
And when the on screen dpad - that big red circle does not register any of the directional movements -
it seems that the street fighter cheats does not want to trigger ...
Is there anyway around this ?

MAME does not have an on-screen D-Pad. It doesn't even have an official build for mobile phones. You are obviously using some sort of unsupported derivative of MAME, and should ask your question on the forums relevant to that particular derivative.

What hardware and software is this? It's certainly not MAME.

Right. As I said, as a member of the team for the past 16 years: MAME does not have any official builds for Android. It doesn't even have an Android-specific UI. What you're running is called "MAME4ALL", and is not endorsed, supported, or condoned by the MAME team in any way, shape or form. Particularly because it's based on a version of MAME that is literally 15 years old.
