Final Fantasy Fiesta
#379776 - 11/30/18 12:45 PM

While not emulation related, it certainly falls within the category of "retrogaming"... there is an event which officially starts tomorrow called "Final Fantasy Fiesta".

Homepage and information here: https://www.fffiesta.com/

In this event, two Twitch Streamers/Speedrunners, BackgroundGuy02 and SevenS1ns, will be racing against each other in an attempt to be the first to finish/beat every major Final Fantasy title starting at the original Final Fantasy all the way to Final Fantasy XV, all played on original hardware (handhelds, consoles, computers) but focusing on the remakes and sequels when possible. Donations are not required to watch and partake in the event but you will need a Twitch.tv account to be able to chat and interact with other viewers.

Each game will have unique challenges and additional conditions for each game as donations goals are reached as detailed on the Fiesta website. The overlaying rule for the entire Fiesta is that there is no escaping/running from ANY fight (unless the story line demands it in those very rare cases). Today begins what is considered the "Day Zero" where you can start donating towards incentive and character names for each game being made available in a first come, first served manner.

Hope to see you there!!

Out of curiosity, how long will something like this take?
Anyone taking wagers somewhere?

I never had the time or patience to get all the way through any of them.
Of course I also only got to play a little at a time & I am a farmaholic & maximizer when it comes to playing games like that...so that slows me down quite a bit..lol

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
Optimist: Yes, it can!

They are trying to finish as each as quickly as possible dealing with the no-escape rules as well as per-game challenges. On average, 8 hours playtime and a 6 day stream week and attempting to finish 13 main games as well as the many incentivized sequel games (FF4 After Years, FF7 Dirge of Cerberus, FFX-2, FF12 Revenant Wings, FF13-2, FF13-3 Lightning Returns, All FF XV DLC content) - easily 2 months of streaming and likely more!

I tried to watch the stream for about 15 minutes, and I'm pretty sure the absolute cringiness of the guy doing the run gave me bowel cancer. It would be a great stream if the guy would just shut up. And what's up with him whistling along with the music? God, this guy sucks. I hope the charities involve get nothing.
