Upgraded MAME, now San Francisco Rush controls don’t work

So I upgraded MAME from 0.155 to 0.202 and now San Francisco Rush controls eradically with keyboard. When I launch it, it acts like a key is stuck down and performs actions without me doing anything. It starts a race by itself, and I cant control the car left or right. Gas and brake seem to work. I reset the cfg and nvram files but does not help.
Could use some help as this does not happen in the old version.

Have you tried deleting the ini file and then resetting your controls for that game.
