translated roms

Hi, i want ask you if is possible load translated roms on mame official.
example
i have chrono trigger (snes) italian patched to
Chrono Trigger (Italiano).smc
and if i rename and replace it to
sns-acte-0.u1 -> ctrigger.zip
i got black screen :/
there is some solution for enjoy prefered roms with translated patch?.

Don't use MAME. Use a dedicated SNES emulator instead.

Then load thru the command prompt. You can create a batch file.
MAME allows you to load any game that's not listed in the software list. But the game might not work.
mame.exe snes "d:\emus\snes\games\my-game-filename.smc"

Try this instead:
mame.exe snes -cart "d:\emus\snes\games\my-game-filename.smc"

I just opened MAME with the snes driver without specifying any games and I got a screen saying:
"This driver requires images to be loaded in the following devices: Cartridge"
Followed by a directory listing where I could choose any games I had in any format.
You can also enter this File Manager from the TAB menu while a game is running, btw.

File Manager work too, but for me is more simple create batch file, but yes this method is good too.
