Permanent Overclock Mame Core
#378003 - 08/05/18 12:19 PM

Hi guys,

not quiet sure if this topic was already post here.

So the question is, is it possible to set the Mame core for example
permanent up to 170 % instead of regular 100 %
I am asking cause i have a mame built for running some Cave
titles and i need to overclock the Mame Core til it runs smooth.

Also i have a different Killer Instinct Mame built where i need to run
Mame on 145 % until it runs the way i need.

Kind regards

There is a built-in command to speed up the default % of MAME. -speed 1.7, for example, will run 170%. Other than going into the source and adjusting speeds and compiling a modified binary yourself, there is no other way for consistent 'sped-up' behavior.

HI

thankx for the fast reply.
I understand the reason why a permanent boost is not desired ...
.. with the mind of the developer team cause in same cases when running
all games for example with 200 % thy may crash freez or will show up
with some other strange problems....

But i have some builts where it were so helpfull and comfortabel,
cause the chosen games are all running complete without any probs
at 165 %. I checked it ... So on my mame cab it is just a question of
convenience to start it up choose the game and lets play but in my
case i have this small additonal step to got ... to speed up mame.

Sorry i am not familiar with compiling and so on ....

what you are asking to do is a bad idea anyway

The Cave games were not made to be run at 165% CPU, the slowdowns are an important part of the game, they balance out the difficulty, taking them away and making the games 'smooth' is breaking the games.

The developers of the games designed the games knowing where the slowdowns would happen.

Hi

sorry i dont want to cheat on the developers team...
It was just a technical question and soloution just for
myself. I respect the reason why it should by run at 100 %.
It is just ´the same question like pro and contra action replay for
Konsol games....Id love to do some experiments....

Thanx so far

kind regards
