DU Reverse Fundraiser Episode 2: Bandit escapes from a California prison
#377922 - 08/01/18 08:54 PM

Thanks to the rest of this refunded money and some internal DU contributions, we combined forces with coolmod to afford the incredibly expensive and elusive Data East game Bandit.

Hope the roms are good

There look to be some weird glitches in those screenshots, like maybe the fire is missing a bitplane, and the tiles on the left side of one of the driving screens are corrupt.

Also 1993? 1989 Jesus, it looks early-mid 80s, maybe Data East USA really did make this one, be interesting to see what hardware it's on because visually it looks like some dec8.cpp game, but the last one we have in there is 1988. Also looks like it was made to compete with Spy Hunter / Action Fighter, which again makes it odd for 19931989.

Still, never heard of it before, so interesting find.

that'll teach me to browse on my phone, looked more like 93 there, but yeah 89 makes a bit more sense.

definitely looks rather glitchy, fingers crossed it's a hw problem not a rom problem anyway.

The issues are caused by a faulty BAC06. Thankfully the ROMs appear to be fine.

Generally when someone marks a YT video as unlisted that means they don't want it posted on the web. It might not be the case here but that's the general idea.

It's not a big deal, you can post whatever you want, just generally if a video is marked as unlisted it's best to ask the author for permission.

Is there any news about Bandit?
And when will it be added to MAME?

Never ask Mamedev questions like that. They erupt into blinding fits of rage if anyone asks them.

a quick search of this forum and GIT history shows no posts or commits regarding progress on that game.

0.203 should be a cool MAME release anyway, the progress Moogly has been making on the vii.cpp based TV games is very good, and a lot of the XaviX ones are approaching playable even if I don't want to mark them as such yet.

I suspect we may need a dump of the MCU
