Forewarning to the corporate lawyers of DL: Better free Mad Dog McCree because we have a prehistoric 'mechanic' that fixes problems with his trusty big dinosaur bone and he knows how to use that big bone too.
Some scenes for younger generation in case they never saw Stanley Kubrick's movie.
> Brizzo just sent out a frame capture decoded from a test disc:
Can we all then assume that this will be the method used to dump laserdiscs going forward?
"Note to Noobs:
We are glad to help you but simply posting that something does not work is not going to lead to you getting help. The more information you can supply defining your problem, the less likely it will be that you will get smart-alec replies.
> Is it right that even if we get all good laser disc copies done Mame can't use them > because of copyright issues ?
Not really, it's important for MAME to remain impartial as far as possible, otherwise you'd just end up with pressure from all angles to remove things / not support things.
We're talking about things from the 80s that aren't being sold in that form anymore. Not supporting specific things of that age would set a very bad precedent for preservation etc. because they're literally rotting away.
The original versions of these games are no more comparable to the current 4k widescreen offerings as Pacman and Space Invaders are to the modern versions of those you can buy. The originals are currently *severely* at risk due to not having been archived to any acceptable quality.
I do hope all the laser disk games get all captured in a format that will be universal, so that they all get re-done in the same way. But mainly I wish they all get promoted to working too so that we all can get rid of the Daphne emulator or should I say laser disk player lol. Daphne was great when it first came out as it gave all us oldies a chance of actually finishing Space Ace & Dragons Lair without running out of money, as it took £'s off me when I was younger & I never got to see the games endings. Thanks for all the work you guys are doing in preserving all these games
