Where are we supposed to donate LCD games to again?
#377213 - 06/27/18 04:37 AM

Also, is there a list of games that are currently in possession of whoever does the scanning and / or data reads so I don't end up buying something that's not needed?

I'm currently bidding on a Stone Cold Steve Austin MGA LCD game since it's cheap and I figured I would donate this to MAMEDev. (The seller is ok with this, btw.)

Contact Sean Riddle. You can either PM him on the bannister forums, or email him. Email address(obfuscated) here: http://www.seanriddle.com/

AFAIK there is no up-to-date list.

An acquaintance of mine found this, and he's willing to send to someone to get it dumped. So who do I point him to?

The version matches one in MAME already:
setname- usg187c
driver- usgames.cpp

The only place I see that name it is in the high score listing.. same as in the set in mame. Did I miss something?

???

The first screen that shows up upon booting the game in MAME says Canamtech. In fact I thought that was the game's title, and so did my friend. If it's not the game name, and this is a US Games release, then what is it?

The US Games scroller art has been replaced with an ASCII drawing of the word 'Camantech' which is a bit cheap looking...

Hey, you're right. 185 says US Games, 187C says Camantech. I wonder if 187C is a hacked bootleg or licensed out version?

That's all it's called..."US Games"
https://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=a...rch+the+Archive

I had always figured that "CANAMTECH" was short for Canadian-American Technology", a Canadian distributor or something like that, & hence the "C" in the version identifier for it. Or, it could just be an out & out bootleg & have nothing to do with that...

I have 1 of these units & a couple of pcb's for it. I sent mine to Smitdogg to dump for the 1 version that wasn't in MAME at the time, this was many years ago. Sadly mine seems to have had a run in with a power spike or something & killed the 1 pcb & the monitor had a very leaky LARGE cap on it so I took it out before it ruined anything else in the bartop & I still haven't fixed it...yet...So I would check his caps on everything before something bad happens.

When the pcb died I did look into finding out about the company & such but didn't find much. Found where they had been in Georgia, the 2 names on the test screen are Mike(IIRC) Pace's wife & daughter(I think) & after shutting down he opened another tech company of some sort in Florida and that's as far as I got. Really wanted to talk to someone there about a few things, would have been fun...

Did that help you out at all?

Pessimist: Oh, this can't get any worse!
Optimist: Yes, it can!
