Even if he's like .000001% Hispanic, that means any anti-latino racial slur made against him makes the person that said it totally racist. Even if they're completely oblivious to this small but significant portion of his Hispanic heritage. No remark, no matter how seemingly insignificant or unrelated to anything superficially apparent, is permissible.

At the risk of repetition, there's no law requiring an employer to not fire you after you say something stupid in public.
"Permissible" would only be an issue if, f'r instance, the White House was calling for a TV personality to be fired for saying something.
