Xevious and Espial

I notice that the Espial have some parts of the game that look like some knock off from the Xevious.
1. Flying discs.
2. Shooting and bombs.
3. Target thingy.
Well you see the rest of the game play.
Xevious 1982
Espial 1983
Was they stealing the ideas from the Xevious game? I felt like they did.
I do like both of these games.

Xevious is a Legend, while that Espial thing is a nice try.
Many games were shady copies(or at least some of its ideas/mechanics/gameplay) of Xevious.
