I think they were dumped but don't see them in my mame list, maybe that has to do with external software lists. I don't even understand mame anymore. But anything with the same date and region is going to be the same game we already have.

They only added 4 games I think. Not sure about the CPS Changer system. The system enable the options on the games screen.
From cps1.cpp
/* Home 'CPS Changer' Unit */
CONS( 1994, wofch, 0, 0, qsound, wofch, cps_state, wof, "Capcom", "Tenchi wo Kurau II: Sekiheki no Tatakai (CPS Changer, Japan 921031)", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE ) CONS( 1995, sfzch, 0, 0, cps1_12MHz, sfzch, cps_state, cps1, "Capcom", "Street Fighter Zero (CPS Changer, Japan 951020)", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE ) // are these 2 legit sets, or did somebody region hack it? CONS( 1995, sfach, sfzch, 0, cps1_12MHz, sfzch, cps_state, cps1, "Capcom", "Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (CPS Changer, Publicity USA 950727)", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE ) CONS( 1995, sfzbch, sfzch, 0, cps1_12MHz, sfzch, cps_state, cps1, "Capcom", "Street Fighter Zero (CPS Changer, Brazil 950727)", MACHINE_SUPPORTS_SAVE )
Code:
I don't think there ever was a softwarelist for these.

Well I don't know much about the system but there would be no reason for them to make an alt rev of any game. That would contradict the whole point, having an exact arcade game at home (except for credits).

Oh OK then. I see your point. All it does converted those into SNES games. Nintendo probably help Capcom out. It have SNES parts.

there are a number of undumped games
while they're sometimes based off the same master revision of one of the arcade sets they contain various other changes which makes them unique pieces of code. Things like this menu aren't present in the arcade sets.
http://mamedev.emulab.it/haze/pics2018/sfzch.png
Warriors of Fate is a bit lazier and closer to just being the CPS1 version set to freeplay, but it's still a completely different compile of the code with different codepaths enabled etc.
they're far more significant 'alt revisions' than most of the clones in MAME.
I'm genuinely surprised they haven't all been tracked down and dumped at this point, especially as there are meant to be famous titles like SF2 for it.

This game does come with the CPS Changer and wires. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CAPCOM-CPS-CHAN...IgAAOSwVNxZ9ijT
I guest the game is free. Like a bonus throw in. Cost way too much to buy. Not worth it. Unless you guys looking for both. Getting both is very hard to get.
Sorry I getting out of hand again. I done here.

Old games are so expensive now. If it was this expensive for used games years ago mame would have never gotten to where it is. We're so lucky it's comical. mame is a miracle.

> Oh OK then. I see your point. All it does converted those into SNES games. Nintendo > probably help Capcom out. It have SNES parts.
The only thing the CPS Changer has in common with the SNES is that it's a 16-bit console that can also use SNES controllers (through a custom SNES-to-JAMMA converter built into the system). The games themselves are miles apart, which was the whole point of the CPS Changer (well, that and to compete with the Neo-Geo AES).
The SNES version of SF2/SF2T looks and sounds like shit compared to the CPS1/CPS Changer version, with small sprites, a terrible soundfont that is also partly out of tune (which Megaman X1 also copped), and poor quality samples/voices (most notably Blanka's roar in SF2 and SF2T; SSF2 on the SNES was slightly better with the audio, but then again so was QSound compared to CPS1 FM). The Super Nintendo can do much better than that.
The only thing the SNES ports have over the arcade is that it shows the character info (bio, birth date etc.) in the demo and it has alternate win quotes e.g. "GET UP YOU WIMP!" and offers a variable speed turbo option in SF2 Turbo (which also includes a non-turbo option, although the game is still Turbo/Hyper Fighting rather than Champion Edition e.g. the extra moves are still there and you can't AI-break Dhalsim by repeatedly sweeping/tripping him like you can in the arcade SF2CE).
The main problem with both the CPS Changer and the AES is that they could only play games designed around that hardware and both had practically no third party support e.g. the CPS Changer never had any pre-CPS1 titles and only had one single conversion of a CPS2 game before it vanished into oblivion, and the only non-SNK games on the AES were MVS titles, and also did not include conversions of pre-Neo-Geo titles. Unfortunately by the mid/late 90s, the PlayStation had taken over the arcade-at-home scene, with an enhanced port of Tekken 1 being a launch title and quite a few 8-bit and 16-bit arcade games ported to the console.

Pressing pause (defaults as F1) and 1P start (defaults as 1) simultaneously gets you in that menu.

After the CPS Changer system driver added. Will the CPS changer games get removed or those still be in MAME? Trying to wrap my head around this.
I know the system will be hard to get. No need to tell me again.

I not that would make sense as it's just a supergun with no hardware of it's own

Yeah, it would be nearly as bad as making an atari 9 pin joystick a system. As you could buy a 2600/vic20/c64/spectrum+kempston interface to plug into your joystick.

If the CPS Changer was commercially sold as a system with its own catalogue of games, it would indeed make sense to have it as a system with its own softlist.
Same with the Neo Geo MVS, Playchoice, TourVision, Mega-Tech, etc. I don't get why they're still being listed/duplicated as individual games, softlist haters be damned.

It's a "fake" system. All the hardware is in the game cartridge. The actual system is basically a TV adapter. In cases like that we don't use Softlists.
XaviXport is the same, fake console - the early games on it run on regular XaviX (NES on steroids level) while the later games use entirely different 3D capable hardware in XaviX 2. This is possible because the system is literally just a few buttons and a TV / power adapter, no real hardware.
As already stated, this would be like calling 'Supergun' or 'Jamma cabinet' a system.
