Circus Bezel (1977)
#371989 - 12/17/17 05:57 PM Attachment: circus_1977_rev3.jpg 7548 KB (12 downloads)

Had some free time to play with this one this week. Some questions on colors, but lacking an original to look at it's hard to judge. Many images I've seen are with the lights on (shining through the bezel), and it's not always easy to know what is a real photo and what is a reproduction.

Couple of questions:
1. On the bottom section, I've seen two versions: One is all yellow, and one is an orange-yellow-orange gradient. Anyone know which is "original"?
2. On the large clown on the left: Again, I've seen two versions: One where his ruffled collar is yellow, and one where it is orange. Again, any knowledge on "original"?

Comments, appreciated.

Orange faded away from the yellow. That is why it look all yellow. Orange on yellow is correct. Most pictures and flyers have that orange over yellow. Always check on the flyers though.

iirc Mr. Do might have been working with an actual Circus bezel many years earlier. His past artwork wip announcements mention of which source the various artwork items came from including the Circus bezel.

Circus along with a few other various bezel pieces of games made in 1970s era used backlit lamps that illuminated portions of a bezel piece as either for attract mode, but some were also utilized during gameplay to help provide status to the person playing the arcade game. I don't remember if the backlit lamps were involved with Circus gameplay or just random attract mode element visual aesthetics.

Awesome!!!... Nailed it.

How you have the colors now is correct. The "alternate" version you are mentioning is simply the same bezel where the colors faded over time.

For the final version, please save it as a PNG, with the screen area transparent, and the longest side at 4000px.

On the artwork drive, there is an "Uploads" folder, with a subfolder for you... completed files can go there.

Very nice first choice there... looking forward to future stuff.

And... I will be updating the MAME Artwork page before the end of the year.

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.
