Trying to compile a full MAME source on my Core 2 Duo PC but its very frustrating... Taking few hours to finish ... Maybe I´m doing something wrong on here?
PC Specs: ============================= Core 2 Duo E8500 - 3.17 Ghz. 4 GB Ram DDR2. Win 7 64 bits.
Command line utilized:
$ make -j2 STRIP_SYMBOLS=1 REGENIE=1

I normally use -j3 on my E7400 machine, but I haven't compiled a full build in a few months - it usually takes over an hour. Note that I have to compile the 32-bit version since that PC still has 32-bit Vista installed (don't ask).
Assuming Windows 7 is still in any way similar to Vista, make sure any annoying background processes are disabled as they will happily chew up CPU time.
