The entire movie featured music of the era, especially that music from the politically tumultuous Berlin music scene, playing the original tracks from Depeche Mode, Bowie and Queen, Kaledia, the Cure, Blondie, Ministry, Led Zepplin, Siouxsie and the Banshees.... the list goes on.
Why diss just New Order, and use a cover track for that... which is even the movie's title track?
I've Googled. No mention why New Order got snubbed. Can't say it's because they aren't playing, because they just dropped a new album this year, NOMC15. That, and al the rest of the music is vintage cuts anyway.
Blue Monday is from 1983 and was an important hit from the time, specially in Europe (which includes the UK ofc). The video you linked is from a later version. Military things and Zaxxon, 1983. Dog balancing on tennis balls, 1988.
