Brizzo extracted the sound rom from the Bubble Bobble prototype and virtually all the music is different. Try not to shit yourself. If you do shit yourself, you're never going to get that out so first thing is order a new computer chair online.
coolmod dumped floppy disk updates for Hydro Thunder, looks like they update the original release to the version we have in mame (1.01B).
Brizzo dumped alt versions of Wai Wai Drive and Block Pong-Pong lent from Fabrice Arzeno . I think the previous Block Pong-Pong dump turned out to be the SC / Shopping Center version.

MAMEDev will ruin your chairs with impunity faster than lunch at a Tijuana street taco stand. Great work.

Now that this is in the source (supported), I wonder if Haze will have a future entry on his blog with Youtube video clip comparisons. ;-)
- New working clones
Bubble Bobble (prototype on Tokio hardware) -
Props to those involved with getting this and getting it in working state.
>Try not to shit yourself. If you do shit yourself, you're never going to get that out so >first thing is order a new computer chair online.
....this part of the paragraph is a keeper imo. LOL

Brizzo finished the dump and Fabrice Arenzo found the version in a rom:
14.MAY,1986VER 0.0
3 months before official game release date of
VER 0.018.AUG,1986 SUMMER
Sorry about your computer chairs but let's face it, they weren't really built to last anyway. Probably not even real leather or otherwise soaking cloth material that even if you hadn't shat into it which you did, you've certainly farted into it probably 1,000 times. You're nasty.

Wow, it's radically different.

Thank You for sharing those MP3s. After listening all of them, now I am glad that they changed them because this proto music is really shitty !

By shitty you mean it was so badass that it made you shit into your computer chair and you're so embarrassed about it that you should probably piss into your mouth because it would be more pleasant than your replies.

-There's a whole debug mode with a stage/air/enemy/etc current editor -No treasure room on level 20 -Lightning bubbles animate differently -Candy cane is either missing or not showing at the usual points -Max number of bubbles is different. Old ones normally disappear and allow new ones. In this the old ones stay and new are clipped out -The extend sequence is different, you get the extra life right away and the animation with the dinosaur is missing -You can still fire after collecting the magic book power up, on the final version you can't -A blue and silver necklace that makes a screen full of stars drop down from above. Not seen that before -Level 34 uses a different colour palette -There is a timer with the potion special item I just can't see it. Final has it visible -Monster starting positions are slightly different on level 71 -I'm sure you get more time to pop them on 65-70 -Oh it says 10,000 for a perfect off the potion. You should get 100,000 -It doesn't give you enough time on level 79. -fire bubbles knock out some of the level tile -sometimes just fall through the floor -level 95 is much easier -Level 97 you usually get unlimited time, but not on this version -Level 99 is easier. The bottom is different, allowing you to drop down through the screen which you can't do normally -End boss you don't have to collect a special bottle - you've already got the lightning bubbles right away -Usual special codes dont work -"Unused dip" is a level select -After selecting a level press 1p fire for really really cool shit

I was going to say exactly the same words, but my English is so poor that I am very grateful to You for transferring my minds into proper English text.

it's also not actually used
the main game music is just the bassline, as Phil mentioned earlier. I imagine it was at that point the developers said they simply didn't have enough channels to do what they wanted without breaking the sound effects and Taito decided to add another chip dedicated to the music.
these are 'hidden content' in the proto more than anything else, experimental stuff they clearly didn't even want to show

the 'intro' sequence is missing when starting a game, you jump straight to the gameplay.
some of the treasure graphics look like placeholders, not great artstyle or palettes.

Do any of the known Bubble Bobble high score codes / input sequence cheats also work in this version?

Those "Dumping Union" pics were funny.
