Is there any good way of dealing with most time unlocks that lack a code i.e street fighter EX2 plus.

I am not sure that I understood well, but if You wanna unlock secret characters, all You have to do is to set that (Pugsy's) cheat and reset the game.

The community has taken care of that since the Zinc times. For example look at this thread. Or this other one which includes a lot more.

Some of those cheats for unlocking everything don't exist on new Pugsy's versions, so you could have grabbed an old MAME version and enable it there instead then get your NVRAM file.

The painful alternative if you only needed to let the attract mode running could be typing something like this on the command line:

Code:

mame64.exe sfex2p -video none -sound none -seconds_to_run 3600 -frameskip 10 -throttle

(I could have sworn I waited more than one hour and it didn't stop, I'll confirm that later)

If you needed hours of gameplay you could record for example one hour or two of gameplay into an input file, add the input file parameter to the command line and run it various times while you go to sleep. I don't think turning off video and sound could improve throttling, but it keeps it quiet to let it running in the background.
