I've seen an Ultraman game in this latest MAME 0.173 version which appears to be a game & watch kind of a game. Is MAME going to support this type of game as well?

once they're decapped and the ROMs are read out, yes.
right now any 'emulations' of those you see are just simulations, the real roms have never been dumped.

Clarification: All of the emulations of these sorts of handheld games in MAME are 100% legitimate emulation. What Haze is referring to is other projects that claim to "emulate" these handhelds. While MAME does not yet emulate Game & Watch, there are a great many handheld games that are similar in nature which are emulated by MAME, and there is a concerted push to try to get our hands on these sorts of games so that they can be dumped and the artwork vectorized.

yeah, sorry if that wasn't clear from my post. the MAME emulations of these things are 100% emulation.
things like the MADrigal collections are 100% remakes, not running any of the original game code at all.
but dumping them is a difficult, and often destructive task; only a few people can do it.
0.173 includes SVG rendering, and we include the SVG traces of the video part in the romsets too FWIW.

Yeah, I know those MADrigal simulators and the Pica Pic online simulators:

Even being simulators, many of them are pretty good and the playability is very close to the originals. But of course I would prefer real emulation instead. I have a Donkey Kong dual screen myself, and I understand that destroying one of these for the sake of emulation is quite painful. They are just beautiful and really cool

I appreciate seeing a bootleg [Conic Electronic Football] of Mattel's Electronic Football supported. I know it will take more time before the specific Mattel handheld games I like are emulated.

I remembering having a soccer and Basketball game. I couldn't put those down when I was a little kid. Good old days. Basketball have the buzz sound if the ball knock down or something like that. There another sound that is for being blocked. Might been a tick sound. Soccer I don't remember the sounds.
The Basketball is in plastic with a black tan screen with a white artwork. http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Mattel/BasketB.htm

Yeah, we try to buy ones that are broken to dump, but even in that state they're rare.
