This one is a bit a an experiment. If you've ever played the real TX-1, you'll remember it does not have a wide-screen display, but rather three monitors that wrap around the player, creating an immersive experience. I was trying to simulate the effect of the side screens being angled inwards creating a wrap-around effect. Unfortunately MAME does not support tilting of screen so I approximated it by making the side screens vertically stretched, horizontally compressed, then framed in an angled bezel. The text on the side screens kind of ruins the effect a bit.

I'm hoping 3D Arcade releases any new cabs. I haven't seen anything released in over a year

Yup, the whole "real life" thing, been busy with things, but I do hope to have some new cabinets out this year (and oh yeah updating unmamed as well). I may need to ease myself back in and remind myself how to use 3DS Max.
I've always been interested in TX-1 but I only have a handful of not very good pictures, and no measurements. Some early Atari games had cabinet outlines in the manuals which greatly helped, but unfortunately the TX-1 doesn't have this, so no help there. Anyway, measurements would motivate me to work on it (hint hint) - the more detailed the better - anyone want to go to funspot and look like a weirdo with a tape measure? And take some pictures while you're at it?

I'll be vacationing in Maine this summer and think I'll be able to convince the wife to make a short detour to Funspot. What dimensions are critical?

That would be very cool! Trying to eyeball these things can end up very sloppy. What's needed is probably what you'd expect - height, depth and width. The tricky part is, for example, height - where? The part that is up against the wall? The highest point of the cabinet? Up to the top of the marquee? So just make sure you keep track of what it is you are measuring. Additionally, TX-1 is a pretty unique cabinet, so some of these might have multiple values, like width of the front screen section, and width of the seat section would be helpful.
Overall, even for a "basic" cabinet it's a pain to try to keep track of what part of the cabinet I measured, so I've taken to sketching / printing a picture of the cabinet and just measuring parts of it and writing the number values directly on the drawing. Of course that would be the "above and beyond" method but I've actually found it to be easier that way. Any values at all though, would help get an accurate idea of the size of the cabinet!
Oh, one last note for pictures, people seem to overlook pics of the seat and pedals for cabinets like this. Without pictures, I'm just guessing! Anyhow, thanks again for any assistance.

In the meantime, I'll keep my eye open for good overall cabinet photos. Reason being, CorelDraw has a mode where once an object is proportioned correctly, you can scale it via stretch and it will give you the correct measurements with dimension/extension lines. So if I can create front, side, and top views, all I'd need is one accurate dimension from the whole thing to get the rest.
I sooooo wish I had a grasp of 3D modeling.

I got some photos of the TX-1 cab while I was at Funspot and updated the artwork. The map on the cab is slightly different than the one in the flyer which my original artwork was based on.

Would be nice to have left screen and right screen can turn the different way. Since there no options and no shaders that can do that then it doesn't look right with that artwork. Screens gonna stay flat or curve or all turn the same way. The artwork looking good though. Someday there will be options for that. Until then sit back and chill on what we got.

I took a bunch of photos for btribble's 3D cab project, including the marquees. You're welcome to use them as well.

The size exceeds the limit for attachments and my Dropbox account is toast so I'll have to break it up into sections. I also tried your MyCloud but it seems to be disconnected?

This is simply not true. You can use the crt-geom shaders and use the tilt-axes parameters to get exactly that effect, even at the time where you wrote your post. I am pretty sure that the artwork with the crt-geom shaders will look awesome and as intended initially.

> And... I don't suppose you can tell us how to do this?
you enable bgfx in your mame.ini
# # OSD VIDEO OPTIONS # video bgfx
and after launching the game you can change from "default" to the crt-geom (or crt geom-deluxe if you have a good graphics card) shader, inside the sliders menu. You can than use the tilt-parameter for the right and left screen.

While I like the effect, I don't like how dark the screen becomes. And there doesn't seem to be a lot of options to get it any brighter. You can adjust the brightness, but it doesn't look as good

Thanks for the tip. It will be a truly beautiful thing once they enable it to save/load or run with command switches. I can think of several games that will benefit from this functionality.

Depends on if you can live without the shadow mask or not. When I set it to "none" for each screen, it looks okay.

Ok, setting the shadow mask to none does look better. Is there a way I can set bgfx to load the crt-geom automatically on all vertical games?
